What Does Blood Pressure Of 148/96 Indicate?

Hi. I've never had high blood pressure before but today it has been running about 148/96 heart rate has been normal. I am a 52 yr old female on no medication and in fairly good shape. I need to loose about 25 pounds. Should I go to the doctor with this blood pressure?

Hello my friend
Thanks for you question on HCM

At your age if you noted that your blood pressure is higher then 140/90 more than 3-5 days ,I advice you to go to make some tests like :
cholesterol
blood sugar
liver function
renal function tests
thyroid test too.
Your doctor will advice you more about them.

Perhaps this increase blood pressure may be result of menopause too.Or to an acute stress, anxiety ...
So check your blood pressure for 3 days ,3 time a day..if it is still higher go to your GP to make the tests .Till than dont take any medication without consulting your doctor.

Hope this information is helpful to you
Best regards
