What Does Blood Tissues In Mucus Of Nose Mean?

I noticed a tiny spot of bright blood in the tissue after I blew my nose in the morning. Generally, after that, I would blow my nose multiple times during the day and not see anything. But tonight I put a rolled piece of tissue gently up my left nostril (about 3/4 on an inch) and it came back with blood. As best as I can see, there is a spot just behind the initial nasal passage that is causing it. My fear is nasal cancer.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

There are many differentials:
- Chemical irritants
- Trauma
- Foreign body
- Tumor
- Leukemia etc.
Lab tests to be done are CBC, INR - PT test, aPTT and nasal speculum studies by an ENT personnel.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Sunny Madar, General & Family Physician
