What Does Body Ache Along With Headache And Diarrhea Indicate?
My daughter presented with symptoms last Weds. of body aches, headache, stiff neck, diarrhea and nauseousness. We took her to the ER on Tues and they did urine, blood, x-rays and found nothing wrong. Then we saw her primary care doctor yesterday and she said she thinks she has viral meningitis OR a reaction to a shot for Typhoid she had on Aug. 3rd. Tonight she developed a fever and chills, her fever was 102. Should we go back in and see her doctor yet? She said to come back in if things get worse, but maybe we haven t given it enough time yet. Please help
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Yes, I also feel that you should give her some time today recover. Possibility of simple viral infection is more likely. The only worrisome symptom is neck stiffness. This is commonly seen with meningitis (brain infection). Usually viral infection recover in 5-7 days. So if her symptoms are not worsening then no need to rush to emergency room again. But if at any moment you feel that she is worsening like headache or vomiting then immediately take her to emergency room to rule out meningitis.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
