What Does Bone Growth In Roof Of Mouth Indicate?

I ve Nordics the roof of my mouth having the bone growing outward I guess it s called torus platinum so I m reading. There is also a tiny hole I can feel with my tongue. I also have that bottom weird bone thing. My jaw hurts a lot and I have severe headaches that the doctors cannot find reason for. This is more frequent in the last several months. I should prob mention that my daughter was born with a left palate. I am 37 should i spend money to see a specialist?

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain bony torus is an overgrowth of bone over the palate and it appears as a bony hard nodule over the palate..
It is harmless and will not cause any complication, however the mucosa over it can get injured while eating if it is considerably large in size or can interfare with the fitting of the dentures..
Secondly a tiny hole can be a canker sore or a traumatic ulcer that can be caused due to trauma over the mucosa..
If you have a similar nodule on the lower haw it can be a mandibular torus..
Pain in jaw and headache does not seems to be due to torus and can be due to causes like jaw joint dysfunction also known as TMJ/TMD..
It can also be due to causes like deep tooth infection..
Consult an Oral Physician and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigations like x rays can help in diagnosis and treatment can be done accordingly..
As of now you can take painkillers like Ibuprofen, dicolfenac, ketorolac etc for relief..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
