Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My brother is 76 years old. For the past couple of days he has urinated a brownish-red urine. He says he has no discomfort but is very tired. He wants to wait a couple of days to see if whatever it is clears up. He does take a lot of medication prescribed after his back surgery about a year ago last December.
Hi. good day. the the brown or tea coloured urine requires an urgent approach. it can be due to acute kidney injury either caused by the medication (which is not mention) or rhabdomyolysis that can be seen in patients who r bed ridden for quite long time. a review of medications which can cause tea coloured urine must be stopped or an alternate should be used. urgent urinalysis, whole abdomen ultrasound, urine myoglobin must be done. Thank you
