What Does Brown Vaginal Discharge After Sex Suggest?

Today I had sex with my boyfriend, & during sex he stopped and there was a brown discharge that was in clumps. It had no smell but the color was a dark brown, and I was bleeding. I got home & there was blood in my panties, and more brown discharge. My period came late this month, so I was thinking it might just be old blood, but the opening of my vagina is a brown sort of color now. It looks like some type of infection

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

It can be clotted blood or broken polyp etc. Though a gynecologist review for detailed per vaginal examination as well as ultrasound pelvis may be needed. Clotting profile in blood as well as discharge microscopy or culture may be needed if infection is suspected.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Saddiq Ulabidin, General & Family Physician
