What Does Brown Vaginal Discharge Indicate?

Hi. Today I noticed I had a dark brown discharge when I went to the bathroom, and I continued to have more. It's not a lot, probably about 1 1/2 on my underwear and it had some globs. I have the nuva ring and replace it every 4 weeks so I don't have my period. I haven't had one in about 4 months. What could this be??

Hi I think you can be having a breakthrough bleeding as you are using nuvaring in a continuous manner. It is a side effect of that. You may get bleeding for few days also. Other reason can be vaginal infection. Get a pelvic examination done by a gynecologist to rule out any cervical pathology or infections. You may need some antibiotic and antifungal drugs orally as well as vaginal to treat that. Hope it helps.
