Hello Doctor, I am Shekhar fro India,I met with an accident had an slight bruise on my right eye side about a month ago,I am having blurred vision in my right eye doctors say mt optic nerve is damaged ,can it be recovered automatically as the time goes or surgery can restore my vision
Hello and welcome to HCM, Bruising around right eye after trauma requires a CT scan of head. Fractures of scalp bones especially temporal bone can cause bleeding and bruising around eye. In addition, blurring of vision has also to be investigated to find the cause of blurred vision. Trauma or lesions of optic nerve usually cause sudden loss of vision and not blurred vision. Moreover, trauma to optic nerve is irreversible and does not recover. Only infections and inflammations recover and not traumatic lesions. Consult your ophthalmologist for complete examination and thus management.
Thanks and take care Dr Shailja Puri
