What Does Bulging Disc With Degenerative Disc Disease In MRI Indicate?

My father has been having back pain for one week. It came on sudden. He is 76y/o, and he is in really good shape. He runs, bikes, and stays very active daily. The lower back pain started one week ago. It has him in the fetal position in the bed. He cannot walk; he cannot get up to go to the bathroom. He cannot do anything. MRI reported there were 2x bulging disks with degenerative disk disease (of course, due to his age, we knew that) He is in a small town in Louisiana, and we are concerned as there a few specialists in the area.

I really appreciate your concern, the given history and report are suggestive of surgery it can be managed with medical treatment but little help he will have with it so better to go for surgery hope this information helps.
