What Does Burning Sensation Behind The Legs Indicate?
Hello, it feels like a razor blade or needle sensation up the back of my leg when anything touches them. This started out of nowhere this evening. I first thought I was sitting on a sharp object when it started and once I got in bed - the feeling from the sheets sent razor sharp feelings down my entire legs
Hello and welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
There are 2 possible systems that can cause these symptoms- 1. a nerve related issue- both mononeuropathy and radiculopathy can cause the above mentioned symptoms. 2. a vascular issue- a blockage of blood vessels can also cause similar symptoms- only the affected part may also feel cold or swollen. Ideally you need to be evaluated by a neurologist there. You will need a Nerve conduction study of both legs, MRI of teh LS Spine and Doppler study of the legs. Treatment would vary with the diagnosis. So let us know the reports as soon as possible. I have tried to make it as simple as possible.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
