What Does Burning Sensation During Urination Indicate?

Hello, for the past few weeks I have noticed a burning sensation when I urinate (I m a female) it has since started to decrease the burning sensation and today I noticed when I urinated, there was blood on the toilet paper but not in my urine. I went to the toilet for the second time, I checked prior to urinating if I was bleeding and I wasn t. I then urinated and then I was bleeding again. I am currently overseas and very anxious about this, are you able to give me an idea of what this is? Thank you

Hello,

Thanks for your query on HCM

"As"per your clinical history is concerned please do few investigations to confirm it as Cystitis so do like this-

1)Urine [RE/ME/culture]

2)Cystoscopy to know the exact spot and cause of bleeding

3)Ultrasound whole abdomen to rule out other pelvic pathology

Take antibiotics and other medications as per your investigations and treating Doctor's advice only.

You can do few preventive steps like this -

1)Drink plenty of liquids, especially water.

2)Urinate frequently. If you feel the urge to urinate, don't delay using the toilet.
3)Wipe from front to back after a bowel movement. This prevents bacteria in the anal region from spreading to the vagina and urethra.

4)Take showers rather than tub baths. If you're susceptible to infections, showering rather than bathing may help prevent them.

5)Gently wash the skin around the vagina and anus. Do this daily, but don't use harsh soaps or wash too vigorously. The delicate skin around these areas can become irritated.

6)Try to empty your bladder as soon as possible after sexual intercourse. Drink a full glass of water to help flush bacteria.

7)Avoid using deodorant sprays or feminine products in the genital area. These products can irritate the urethra and bladder.

Hope that helps
