Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hello, I felt a burning sensation on my lip and thought it was a developing coldsore. I managed to stop it in its tracks so it s never filled with fluid or developed. I just had a tiny red dot on my lip. It never irritated me so I met my boyfriend and now I m scared. Would it have been contagious without the fluid?
In case if the cold sore has started to develop and a red spot that is the initial sore was already formed then there is an indication that the infection started to progress.. This is an indication of a high viral count on the skin surface.. In case if during this time you have undergone direct Physical contact then there is a chance of transmission of infection.. But a confirmation can be given to you after a clinical examination and a viral culture and antigen antibody reaction test done for further confirmation.. Also both of you should get investigated so that it can be seen that is your partner is infection or is infection free..
Hope this helps..
Regards..
