What Does Burning Sensation On The Tongue Indicate?
For the past few days the front of my tongue has had a weird feeling. I didn t burn it. I did have a wisdom tooth out on 1/12. I had a colonoscopy on 1/13 with profofal. A routine dental exam on 1/12. I have not taken any antibiotics in more than a year. Routine lab work on 1/9 labs ok. What could it be?
Weird feeling of the tongue tip can occur due to a number of causes like infection in mouth and throat, it can be a manifestation of systemic diseases and infections while can be due to burning with hot foods, localized trauma like with any sharp teeth, side effect of medications, nutritional deficiency etc.
Do not worry it will get better as the infection will subside and you will stop taking medications. For now to reduce inflammation you can do warm saline gargles. Do cool water rinses and cool compresses. Avoid any spicy and irritant foods. You can take Vitamin B complex supplements. If there is pain you can apply oral gels like Mucopain gel or others containing Xylocaine or Chlorohexidine. If there is no improvement consult an Oral Physician and get a clinical examination done.
Hope this helps.
Regards.
