What Does Buzzing Sound In Ears With Heaviness In Head Mean?

Hi, when i lie on my right ear while watching the telly or trying to sleep, everytime a car passes the window or some speaks or there is any kind of movement i get a kind of buzzing noise evrytime they speak/move and then it stops when they stop, and starts again when theres movement again and so on, its fine during the day! But for the last few night ive woken up on my right side and can harldy lift my head for the jaggy pains in it, its as if im being pricked with a needle.. any ideas?

Hi,

Your typical symptoms of tinnitus of provocation by sound, settling with no movements or noise, more so at night with pains and pricks is noted. The commonest causes are related to inflammation in the middle and inner ear having cochlea and vestibule that controls movements and balancing. The primary cause can be in the nose or sinuses. Hence, I would advise you the following:
* Consult an ENT Surgeon for proper clinical evaluation, examination, ENT Endoscopy
* CT scan of the sinuses and mastoids is needed to know the internal status as this can not be seen by endoscopy
* Relevant tests of blood

All these will lead to a proper diagnosis and thus allow a specific treatment to get symptomatic relief as well as permanent cure. You will need a long course of treatment till cured will and in some cases surgery may be needs. Treatment as any associated conditions is also needed.
