What Does Cervical Canal Appears Open In The Ultrasound Scan Report Mean?

Hi Doctor,I am 15 weeks pregnant and this is my first baby .one day before suddenly i saw some dark brown spotting on my underwear.i went to hospital and did a scan.doctor said baby is fine and growing well.but on the scan report they mentioned cervical canal appears open so doctor gave Duphstone for twice a day for one week and two weeks bed rest.still there is brown spotting not every time some times.i am so afraid .please help me .please thank you.

Hello,

Open cervical canal of fetus indicate neural tube defect. The evaluation of chromosomal abnormalities such as Down's
syndrome or others have to be confirmed with Quadruple scan of PAPP, Estradiol, Alfa feto protein and Inhibin levels of maternal serum.
