What Does Chest Pain On The Left Side Indicate?

I just recovered from very bad cold, coughing a lot with chest pain. Now no more cold, no more coughing but chest pain , above the Brest and... Brest pain. Sometimes pain only on the left side of the chest which started a while ago but worsen now. I had chest x- ray 2 days ago , came back normal. I feel a little fatigued and worry Please help, thank you, Danielle

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

You were having severe cough history, so by excess coughing muscle strain can be there and so chest pain present. If needed ibuprofen like non steroid anti-inflammatory drug can be prescribed for five days. Hot compress can be applied. If needed EKG investigation can be done to check cardiac cause. Consult physician for examination.
