What Does Chest Pain While Suffering From Cough And Cold Indicate?

I m a male, 68 years old. I consider my health as good. Tuesday I started with a head cold. It has since gone down into my chest. I cough a lot. Too much. When I cough, I cough up yellow stuff. Also, when I cough, my whole chest and sides hurt like crazy. What do you think? I have an appt. with my regular Wednesday the 21st for a physical. Richard W. Camarata

Hello,

Chest pain with a cough with expectoration means.
1. Pneumonia
2. Bronchitis.
3. Pleurisy
4. Pleural effusion with pneumonia (parapneumonic effusion).
Unless the examination by clinical and x-ray it is difficult to say what it is. Avoid cool drinks and freeze water. Use water vapor inhalation and salt water gargling thrice a day. Please consult your physician he will examine and treat you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Penchila Prasad Kandikattu
