Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Does Clear Liquid Discharge With Bleeding From Shin Post Injury Suggest?
A lawnmower kicked s rock back and hit my shin, I was wearing shorts and boots but the rock hit above my boot. It started bleeding right away but there was a ton of clear liquid. It almost acted like how rainx does. My boot and sock was drenched with blood. It is all the clear liquid that I am worried about.
That clear fluid may be tissue fluid. Serosanguinous discharge is the name given to such type of discharge. You seem to have lost good amount of blood indicating the wound might be big and deep.
Clean the wound under running water. Apply antiseptic cream or powder. Take a tetanus toxoid injection intramuscular. If the wound gets infected, you may need to use antibiotics orally.
If there are any of the following signs, please do consult a physician:
* Extreme swelling and redness in the wound area
* High grade fever
* Pus draining from wound
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Pallavi M., Anesthesiologist
