What Does Dark And Goopy Blood Indicate?

I had a blood test this morning. The lab tech commented that my blood was dark and "goopy," which I assume means thick. Two months ago I had a dnc that require the use of an IV at whicih times the doctors took blood as well- my blood stopped coming out of the tube which they used for the IV, it simply stopped filling the tube with blood. Two tubes were required, not much at all. They had to go in a second area for more blood. Are these issues related? What might be the causes? What type of doctor should I follow up if at all?

Hi,
Thanks for asking.
Based on your query, my opinion is as follows.
1. Your blood appears to be coagulating too fast or there is increased cells.
2. Peripheral smear and coagulation profile is necessary to evaluate for any cause.
3. Dehydration, hemostatic disorders, protein disorders are common causes.
4. Meet an haematologist for tests and diagnosis. More details necessary for further opinion.
Hope it helps.
Any further queries, happy to help again.
