What Does Dilated Pelvocalices Indicate In An Ultrasound?
hello doc..ive just went to the doctor for check up regarding my UTI. He advised me to have a ultrasound. The ultrasound result is that the right pelvocalices are severly dilated. There is a 1.64cm superior caliceal stone. Multiple stones are appreicated at the mid/inferior group of calices. One of the stones measures 1.42cm. The dimension of my right kidney as 28 year old male is 14.5 x 6.31 (1 x ap) with cortical thickness of 0.83cm. Am i going to die?
The large stone and few smaller ones are causing you kidney to swell because of obstruction to flow of urine. You will not die but it is important to consult an urologist and take treatment immediately. The treatment for the large stone involves ESWL in most patients. ESWL is extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy. The large stone will be broken in to smaller fragments and then they will come out through normal passage. Please drink lots of fluids and water. Get your kidney function tests like blood urea and serum creatinine done.
