What Does Elevated D-dimer Mean?

I went to the ER with a feeling of chest heaviness and could not get a deep breath. Nuclear stress test was fine, cardiac echo was fine, VQ scan showed a low probility of PE, D-dimer was elevated at 250 and segs were elevated at 60.8. what do the elevated labs represent if anything

Noted your D dimer level elevated....
It signify coagulative abnormality like disseminated intravasucalr coagulation like condition or pulmonary embolism in which fibrin degraded product present in blood ..

Your symptoms highly suggestive pulmonary embolism....
Examination of your calf muscle done to look for deep vein thrombosis ...
Here for confirmation of pulmonary embolism CT angiogram can be done....
If emboli seen heparin given.....

So search for cause need to be done as otherwise d dimer not elevated
Also investigate with PT , aPTT like test ....

Consult good physician for detail examination and investigation ...
