What Does Elevated WBC Count In My Blood Test Indicate?

I just had a major abscess in my colon and on April 22nd had the abscess removed along with 6 inches of the colon and large intestines. As of last Wednesday my white cell count is back to 15.9 and my Absolute Neutrophils is 11846. Platelet count is out of range at 444 and RDW out of range at 17.5. I am scheduled to see the doctor but am curious as to what does this mean?

Hi
Your total count is raised, which indicates a possible infection, neutrophils also are also high it could probably be an abscess, which needs to be evaluated, since you have a history of surgery, it could probably be related to that, your doctor might do a ultrasound to check for any abscess formation, and manage accordingly.
Regarding RDW, it indicates the distribution of RBCs. Raised RDW indicates presence of anemia, get your blood tested for Hemoglobin levels.
Hope I have answered your query.
Regards.
