What Does Elevated Cholesterol And SGPT Level Indicate?
Hi doctor, I m 23 female and non diabetic.I never drink alcohol neither i smoke. I m not under any medication. My father is hepatitis b patient with ckd.I am hepatitis b negative and also had 3 shots of vaccine. My cholesterol and sgpt levels are slightly increased. Is this of concern? My weight is 50kg and BMI is 20. BILIRUBIN, TOTAL 0.98 SGPT 42 high (normal less than 34) SGOT 23 Creatinine 0.56 Cholesterol 216 high (normal Less than 200) Direct LDLcholesterol 143 high(Normal less than 100) HDL 55 normal 40-60 I m concerned about the elevated SGPT levels.
It is understandable to be concerned about any deviation from the normal values but the slight increase would not indicate any significant impairment of the liver function.
An increase is considered mild if the value is less than 2 times the upper limit.
Slight increases are often due to non alcoholic fatty liver disease which refers to the build of fat in the liver due to diet and activity.
I hope this helps
