What Does Elevated Glucose And ALT Levels Mean?

I just got my CMP blood tests back and the only things elevated were Glucose at 101 (ref range 65-99) mg/dl and ALT at 64 (ref range 9-46) U/L. AST was 30. I have been diagnosed with fatty liver in the past based on an ultra sound but my liver enzyme levels have not been out of range for a year or two. Is this just fatty liver or something new?

Hi there
I am Dr Mittal,
And I am going to try to help you with your query.

First, I dont think you really need to worry about the sugars. 101 seems to be normal. However, just to be sure, I would suggest you go for the OGTT test. This is because Sugars beyond 100, and less than 126 suggest a condition called impaired fasting glucose. So I think OGTT should be done to be safe.

As for the raised liver enzymes, especially in the view of fatty livers, i dont think you need to worry. Just go back to your low fat diet. Also, avoid alcohol and oily food. Also try medicines like Silymarin. They may help

Repeat LFT again in 2-3 weeks after the interventions are incorporated

Best of luck
Dr Mittal
