What Does Elevated Hemidiaphragm In My X-ray Mean?

Hi, I had my xray, result was minimal ill-defined opacities are seen in the left upper lobe. Heart is not enlarged. The left hemidiaphragm is elevated. Both sulci and right hemidiaphragm are intact. Bony throax is unremarkable. IMPRESSION: CONSIDER MINIMAL PTB, LEFT UPPER LOBE, ELEVATED LEFT HEMIDIAPHRAGM. I also had an AFB, sputum, result, +n-1 to 9 Acid fast bacilli seen in 100 visual fields (n=0 to 5). Would like to know further regarding the result of my AFB, thanks

Radiologist 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for writing in.

There are lung opacities in left upper lobe which may signify pulmonary TB infection. 1 to 9 AFB when seen in 100 microscopic fields is scored as few bacilli. You need to consult a pulmonologist and start taking treatment for PTB. The duration of treatment might be 9 months to a year. Please take your medications regularly and eat healthy food. Check your weight gain every 15 days and avoid exposure to possible infections like common cold.

Elevated hemidiaphragm means the diaphragm is displaced slightly upwards due to lung infection. This can be seen in PTB infections.
