What Does Elevated Ketone Level In Urine During Pregnancy Indicate?

Hi i am 11weeks pregnant and recently went for my monthly check up and gave a urine sample they told me I had ketones showing in my urine that was a little higher than normal so wanted to send it off to be tested..what exactly does that mean? And what will be the testing process? What are they looking for? I have heard I could be dehydrated or possibly uti but if that wad the cade why didn t they just treat me in office?? Thanks!

Ketones are by products of fat breakdown in your body. When found in your urine, they indicate that you are not eating enough calories at regular intervals during the day or that your blood glucose is too high. Small amounts of ketones in your morning urine can result from: not eating enough the previous day. Kindly check your blood sugar, body weight and modify your diet.
