What Does Eventration In Left Hemidiaphragm Mean?

hello doctor, my 7 yr old son have been prescribed to take Montair LC kid once daily. He is taking this medication since last 18 months. recently 4 months back he suffered from cold and fever and when we take his chest x-ray they told that there is eventration of left hemidiaphragm. what does this mean and is that we need to compulsorily do the surgery

Eventeration of diaphragm is weakness of diaphragm. There can be partial/unilateral eventeration of diaphragm. Depending on the severity the necessary treatment should be taken. If it is not significant then there is no need to get operated. In the chest X-ray it will appear that one side of diaphragm is higher than the other side. If it is slightly higher then there's nothing to worry but if its significantly higher a surgery will be needed and fixation of the diaphragm can be done.
Most of the times eventeration does not require surgery and the patient can lead a normal life.
