What Does Extra Flesh Around The Vaginal Opening Indicate?

Hi I m on my period and I ve noticed there s a big chunk of flesh sitting at the opening of my vagina. I ve been doing some googling and I saw something about a uterine cast? This particular period is very painful and I m wondering what exactly this flesh is and when will it be done shedding if it is a cast?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

It is hymen. Normally it is present and it will be perforated for sexual activity. Do not temper with it if want can consult a gynecologist and surgeon for surgical excision and perforation.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Ashok Kumar Dash
