What Does Fatty Infiltration Of Liver From This CT Scan Indicate?

I had a CT Scan on March 14th, diagnosed with mild diverticulitis & was put on Ciproflaxcin & Flagyl. I have evidence of fatty infiltration of the liver. What does this mean? 52 yr old female, not much of a drinker and I am overweight. All other organs were normal. Currently I m experiencing fluttering near belly button, right side, but no pain. Just annoying. My appendix was normal in appearance, pancreas, spleen, adrenal glands, normal. No mass, calculus. No uterus, due to hysterectomy, no gallbladder as it was removed. Thanks for any help.

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Fatty liver means that there are fat build up in different parts of the liver. It may stay as it is or may progress causing significant damage to the liver.

Fatty liver can be due to alcohol use or it may be non alcoholic fatty liver.

Since you do not use a lot of alcohol, it is likely the later for you.

Non alcoholic fatty liver occurs more commonly in persons with one or all of the following- over weight or obese, high cholesterol , inactive, diabetes, unhealthy diet etc

Change in lifestyle (healthy diet, increased exercise) and the use of statins may prevent further liver change.

I hope this helps
