Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
my dad just had liver surgery to remove a tumor. he had stage 4 colon cancer that spread to his liver. he had most of the rumors removed last year and about 20 rounds of chemo. this was the last surgery and the last tumor. he s in the ER right now because he had a fever of 101. the incision doesn t look red or infected. I m wondering what this could mean.
Fever after a surgical procedure maybe due to the inflammatory response. This response can occur a few days after the surgical procedure.
It may not be necessarily indicate an infection but he would need to be reviewed to rule this out. This would require physical examination and he may also need blood tests.
I hope this helps
