What Does Frequent Infections After Mirena IUD Indicate?

I ve had the Mirena IUD for almost two years now, and I seem to be getting frequent Bacterial Infections.... Is this cause for concern? I ve gone to the doctor a few times, but they have not seemed worried about it, and just prescribe anitbiotics for the infection. Is there any predisposition for this to be happening so often?

Hello,

Mirena IUD has many side effects, some rare adverse effects are PID, ectopic pregnancy, migration of the IUD from its natural position, etc. Every patient is unique & they may have different symptoms. Since you are having recurrent infection it may be indicative of PID due to mirena though rare.

You can use any other contraceptive method, if you think you are having side effects due to Mirena. You can get it removed. Take a balanced home made diet rich in protein and calcium. Take adequate rest, plenty of water and stay active.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
