What Does Heavy Mixed Flow In Urine During Pregnancy Suggest?

hi dr im currently 18 years old ,wiegh 17.5 stone and am 37 weeks pregnant with my 2nd child i had asthma when i was little but i grew out of it. im a little concerned as to this pregnancy as i had a show at 26 weeks but everything was said to be ok and then i got a urine infection at 32 weeks which was treated with antibiotics and now i have received a letter this morning that they found heavy mixed flow in my last urine sample and my gp wants another sample im just curious as to what heavy mixed flow means. i would be very greatful for your answer on this matter

Hello, and I hope I can help you today.

I believe you are confused by the terminology your doctor used to describe your condition. "heavy mixed flora" is probably the result of your urine test, which means that a lot of the bacteria from your vagina got into the sample and that they were not able to get an accurate result. Your doctor needs another sample of urine from you to repeat the test.

So your test just needs to be repeated because the first sample was mixed with fluid from your vagina. When you do your repeat irons test, try to clean your self very well first to prevent recontamination.
