What Does High Alkaline Phosphate Level In The Below Liver Panel Test Report Suggest?
Hepatic Function Panel (7) every thing falls into normal except alkalin phosphate s its high at 159. what causes this?Test Low Normal High Reference Range Units Protein, Total, Serum 7.0 6.0-8.5 g/dL Albumin, Serum 4.2 3.5-5.5 g/dL Bilirubin, Total 0.3 0.0-1.2 mg/dL Bilirubin, Direct 0.11 0.00-0.40 mg/dL Alkaline Phosphatase, S 159 39-117 IU/L Ast (Sgot) 22 0-40 IU/L Alt (Sgpt) 32 0-44 IU/L
Hello. Your alkaline phosphatase levels are mildly elevated, whereas the rest of your liver function tests seem to be normal. High alkaline phosphatase levels usually indicate gall bladder and bile duct disease. It may also be raised in kidney diseases. I would suggest an abdominal ultrasound to rule out gall bladder pathology, if you are symptomatic. If asymptomatic, we can wait and watch and repeat the tests after 3-4 weeks.
