What Does Huge Blob Of Mucous With Dried Blood At The Back Of Throat Indicate?

I've had a cold for about a week. The last two days it felt like I had something stuck in my throat. I finally got frustrated and looked in mirror. In the back of my throat I saw something that looked black. I tried to hack it up but it wouldn't budge. I got a tip to see if I could reach it and I could. It moved a little but I couldn't get it out. So I got some tweezers and reached back and grabbed home and pulled it out. It was a huge blob of mucus and blood and dried blood. What could that mean?

General Surgeon 's  Response
HI. This is inspissated mucus which was adherent to the pharynx causing a blood tinge. If it was OK after you remove this, fine .
Yet an examination by an ENT Surgeon would be better to rule out any other problem. The thing you described is not at all common in practice.
