What Does Ill Defined Densities In Apical Regions Mean?
my chest result says i have an ill defined densities in both apical regions. can you please explain fully? is it dangerous, is it contagious? i have teen kids with me.i have no other symptoms of tb aside of fever. no coughs, no weight loss, etc. thanks
Ill-defined densities means they can't see clearly enough to figure out what it is. All they know is that something is showing up on the x-ray that is abnormal. Abnormal could mean something as minimal as dust/foreign object aka "artifacts" or something that may need further looking into.
You could have just breathed something in, or it could be previous scarring from a past infection like pneumonia or tuberculosis. Yes is can be contagious, however virus or bacteria may spread through air. My advice is:
- sputum for afb tb gold test
- blood routine and microscopy
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Rini
