What Does Inter Menstrual Vaginal Bleeding Indicate?

So I am on birth control, it tells me when my period starts, and when it stops. Always at the end of the month, always consistent. I am no where near supposed to be having a period right now, but I have been bleeding vigorously for the past 3 days. It s been non-stop. It s a lot of blood. More than a usual heavy period. My question is, would you happen to know what s going on?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Intermenstruval vaginal bleeding may be due to stress or uterine fibroid or uterine polyps or changes in hormone levels or using birth control pills irregularly, under active thyroid use of blood thinners, IUD, etc. Until examination is done it is difficult to say what it is. Use tablet Tranexemic acid and Mefenamic acid twice a day for five days. If symptoms do not improved please consult your doctor, he will examine and treat you accordingly. Take care.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Penchila Prasad Kandikattu
