What Does Intermittent Right Temporal Epileptiform Abnormalities Indicate?
I recently had an eeg and the results show... frontotemporal polymorphic activity....intermittet sharply contoured Theta admixed Delta activity over the right temporal regionoo0...intermittent right temporal epileptiform abnormalities and there were left temporal epileptiform abnormalities. The eeg was abnormal due to 1) bi-temporal independent epileptiform abnormalities and 2) bi-temporal slowing. Epileptiform abnormalities indicate propensity for seizures. Focal slowing suggests focal cerebral dysfunction. The dr. wants to put me on seizure meds to prevent a possible seizure. I am reluctant to do this due to the side effects and the fact that I have never had a seizure. I did have gamma knife and 8 weeks of daily radiation for a brain tumor. Would appreciate any interpretation you can provide, as I do not understand this report, and am very hesitate about the meds when I have never had a seizure. Thanks so much. L Lee
Thank you for using HCM. You need to take meds to prevent seizures as the activity observed on EEG suggests the same. Please follow up with your physician.
