What Does Intermittent Vaginal Bleeding After Intercourse Indicate?

Im 21 and had intercourse for the first time in just over a year about a week ago and had a bit of bleeding during and straight after but it stopped. A couple days later I ve started bleeding again and it s lasted 3 days so far, but I m not due my period for another 2 weeks. I don t think it is my period as it s not the same heaviness and colour I normally have. What could this be?

Hi,

Thanks for posting in HCM.

I have read your description and understand your concern.

Intermittent vaginal bleeding what you are experiencing following intercourse could be due to presence of conditions such as cervix inflammation, uterine polyps or mechanical injury to the vaginal mucosa.

Hence, you need to be evaluated clinically by per speculum examination and also need to undergo ultrasound scan of the abdomen to know what could be the cause, so that it can be managed accordingly.

Kindly consult Gynaecologist in this regard for appropriate evaluation and management.

Hope the information provided would be helpful.
All the best.
