General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

As per my clinical experience, the usual age of menopause is around 51 in US and around 48 in south east Asian countries. There are many instances where a prior period of 3-4 years one gets starting of menstrual irregularity due to lack of ovarian follicles as part of ageing process.

However, it is recommended to observe the menses cycles for a period of 1-2 cycles and later if required consult your OBGYN for further work up of adenomyosis, fibroids or others.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
