What Does Irregular Bleeding While On Birth Control Pills Suggest?

I missed 3 pills in week 3. I continued to take 1 of the missed pills and went straight into the New pack as advised by the nurse but it s been over 2 weeks and the bleeding is light but keeps stopping and starting and I am now 10 pills into the new pack. I ve never had any bleeding issues until now. Is this normal?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
I understand your concern.
Since you have missed the pills in between, it has caused hormonal imbalance and hence, you have experienced irregular bleeding.
You need to take birth control pills regularly everyday at the same time. Spotting will continue for some time till the hormone levels are restored to normal.
Hence, you may kindly continue with the regular intake of pills.
In case you experience symptoms like heavy bleeding, passing of clots and abdominal cramps, you need to seek help from Gynecologist without any further delay.
Hope the information provided would be helpful.
All the best.
