What Does It Mean By No OVA Found But (+) Fat Globules In A Stool Test?
Hi. I m a mother to a 6 year old daughter who has suffered stomach flu and vomiting for 2 days already. The results of her stool test showed: No OVA found but (+) fat globules. What does this indicate? Is there any cause for worry on the presence of fat globules? Her stool consistency is still soft by the way and she weighs 18kg at age 6.Thank you.
Thanks for your question on HCM. Ova in stool indicates parasitic infection.and usually they are absent. If parasitic infection is there in git ova can be excreted in stools. Common parasites are amoeba, trypnosoma, etc. And fat globules are common in mal absorption syndromes. But can be seen in infection. So start antibiotics after consulting pediatrician and recheck fat globules after 1 month.
