What Does It Mean For The Placenta To Be In The Posterior Position?

Hi.... I am 21 weeks pregnant.I have no problem. But my doctor has prescribed me proluton depot injection.My ultra scan report is Placenta is posterior in location and now low lying, maturation grade 1+. Is everything ok? And is it safe for my baby to take proluton depot injection?

Thanks for writing to HCM

According to the reports you have low lying placenta in posterior region with grade I maturity.
In majority of the cases,it migrate away from the internal os with advancement of pregnancy.There is nothing to worry.
You should have follow up scan to detect the progress.
You should avoid strenuous activity and take adequate rest.
Your doctor has rightly given you progesterone injection.It is given to support pregnancy
