Hello,

The mild haziness near the heart borders shown in the X-ray of the lungs could be minor airway infection or mild inflammation. If your son has cough, fever, or chest congestion it may be a mild respiratory infection and treated as such. Often a repeat X-ray after recovery shows complete clearing.

Your son’s CTR is 0.53 is with limits slightly enlarged. Normal CTR is usually ≤ 0.50 (and in infants even up to 0.60 can be normal). You have not mentioned your son's age. Adult CTR is around 0.55. No fluid, collapse, or major abnormality seen. In children, this description is very common and often non-specific. The X-ray findings can be correlated with symptoms like cough, fever, or breathing difficulty to decide if it’s infection or just a technical artifact.

If your son suffers from symptoms like persistent fever, shortness of breath, chest pain, or swelling in legs/abdomen, etc., get your son clinically examined by a GP or a cardiologist if he is an adult. Get reviewed by a pediatrician or pediatric cardiologist to be safe if he is an infant. The rest of the report are normal.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
