What Does Lack Of Appetite When Diagnosed With Incisional Hernia Indicate?

I am 62. over weight and was recently diagnoised with an inscisional hernia. My Dr. said as long as I could push the hard little knot in the mushy area back inside it wasn t anything to worry about and to lose the weight. Lately, I get hungry, but feel full after half of what I normally eat. I went on a low carb diet (its working and easy to stick to), but I m worried about the small appitite. Should I be worried? I m a snow bird and my gp is in Alaska and I m in Az. now.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

It is due to compression and pressure in the bowel by a hernia. Generally, it will settle once a hernia is repaired. Consult a general surgeon and get the hernia operated.

You can opt for laparoscopic repair as it has got less chance for complications and recurrence is also very low.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
