What Does Lateral Annular Tear In MRI Report Suggest?
I had an MRI done on my back because of an accident that I had 6/8/09. My back hurts everyday and I don't know how to read the MRI and the doctor says it is just arthritis. I never had arthritis before that accident. what does lateral annular tear mean
Arthritis is inflammation with in the intervertebral joint, with reduced joint space, sclerotic margins in the x-ray. Annulus is the peripheral part of the intervertebral disc - when there is a loss of homogeny with defect is called tear (generally seen after traumatic cause / age related changes)
You do not have to have arthritis before - most probable chances of inflammatory changes post traumatic. Interventional procedure is recommended in this cases - if physiotherapy does not help.
Hope it helps you. Wish you a good health. Anything to ask ? do not hesitate. Thank you.
