What Does Light Brown Vaginal Discharge Imply?

I have been having a lot of light brown to clear discharge and vaginal itching that has not gone away for the past couple of weeks. I thought it was a yeast infection and bought a generic over the counter 1 day treatment which I took a week and a half ago and my symptoms got better but they don't seem to be going away. What does this mean?
