Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi. I just goy my liver enzyme back and it was 160. I am a drinker and it has always been a little high, but nothing like this. I drank on a daily basis. I also take a shot, once every 3 months, of Stellara for psoriasis which can affect the liver. I am completely stopping drinking for 30 and get retested. My question is it possible to get my level ever back to close to enough normal and will I ever be able to have an occasional drink again?
I shall make an effort to provide you with good professional recommendations specific to your questions. Normal levels of AST and ALT may slightly vary depending on the individual laboratory's reference values. Typically the range for normal AST is reported between 10 to 40 units per liter and ALT between 7 to 56 units per liter. Mild elevations are generally considered to be 2-3 times higher than the normal range. You should be able to get the values close to normal, it depends on the damage that has occurred to your liver by drinking. I advice to quit drinking rather than going for occasional drinks. I advice you to see doctor with the report for further help.
Yet again, I duly appreciate your query to me, I do hope that you have found something useful to help you and I shall be glad to answer any further apprehensions.
Sincerely,
I find this answer helpful
