What Does Low Grade Fever Along With Elevated Heart Rate Indicate?

7 year old girl, started with cough 2 days ago. She is producing phlem, low grade fever of 99.5 at max, faster than normal heart rate and breathing is faster than normal. She looks like she has a high fever but doesn t. No complaints of aches or pains. Flu or really bad cold?

Hello,

It seems to be a viral upper respiratory tract infection. Symptomatic management is done for that. Decongestant like levocetrizine for five days can be prescribed for that. If no improvement, then investigation with CBC needed. Consult a pediatrician for examination and discuss your case.
