What Does Low Platelets In CBC Report Mean?

Hi, may I answer your health queries right now ? Please type your query here...
My recent CBC showed low platelets - 60 with reference range 140-400 and a few giant platelets were noted. Hemoglobin 12.3 and Hematocrit 36.9. I have no other symptoms. Do I have a leukemia?

Hi, dear
I have gone through your question. I can understand your concern.
You have low platelet count. There are many causes of low platelet count. Viral infection is the most common cause. You don't have any symptoms and your other reports are also good. So you don't have any leukemia. Don't worry about that. If you have sny symptoms then consult your doctor. Otherwise it will come back to normal within few days. So just repeat your complete blood count after a week.
No active treatment is required right now.
Hope I have answered your question, if you have doubt then I will be happy to answer. Thanks for using health care magic. Wish you a very good health.
