What Does Lower Abdominal Discomfort After Hysterectomy Suggest?
hello, I am having some discomfort in my lower abdomen, like something is trying to get out. It s even tender to walk sometime. Sometime, when I get up from the bed, I have to walk a little gaped legged. My husband made a comment to me about pregnancy , however, I m 54 years of age and I miscarried my first child at the age of 18 and have had a complete Hysterectomy answer as best you can. I understand that I possibly need to make a doctor appt
Hysterectomy can certainly vary based on each person and situation but we give a general time frame of 3 months. A hysterectomy may lead to secondary pelvic floor muscle spasms / hypertonia and the scar tissue secondary to the surgery may lead to restricted fascia and ultimately decreased mobility of the fascia as well as decrease blood to the local nerves and muscles.
We have many patients that come to us with lower abdominal pain or discomfort after hysterectomy several years after surgery. If you are experiencing pain that compression and tightness will take longer you need medical attention. We may need to do an ultrasound on your belly to see if any new medical problems happen such as mass or tumor.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Heang Chan Raksmey, General & Family Physician
